ABOUT ME
Anusha Kav is a Canadian writer from Edmonton, Alberta.
Her work has been featured at both the local and national level, appearing in the CBC, The Globe and Mail, Maclean's Magazine and more.
Her areas of particular interest include gender politics, race and gender in media representation, popular culture, political communication and women's health.
Anusha has a Master of Journalism from The University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Political Science from the University of Alberta where she minored in Women's and Gender Studies.
Anusha has won numerous academic and professional scholarships, including a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship-Master's to fund her thesis which looked at identity, race and gender representation in television political comedy.
In 2022, Anusha was named one of the CBC's Joan Donaldson Scholars, one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country for young journalists. She graduated head of her class at UBC, earning the Hal Straight Gold Medal and Prize for most outstanding graduate in the Master of Journalism program. She also won a Helen Badenoch award for her work on community health journalism.
She has previously worked for CBC Edmonton and CBC News Investigates as a reporter and associate producer. Anusha has experience in audio and written storytelling, covering a range of topics including health, culture, and politics. In her free time, Anusha dabbles in wildlife photography, loves birds, interior decor and celebrity culture.
